Preliminary Task
Create the front cover and contents page of a school magazine. The front cover must include originality in the magazine name, front cover photo and logo.
FRONT COVER
Research and Planning
Adobe Photoshop?
Indesign?
Honestly, I was clueless with using these so I thought making this magazine was going to be struggle, luckily, I got the hang of it and it got easier as I progressed in making my magazine cover.
Photoshop
The class took photos of each other in order to use the images for their front cover, I looked at these and found a perfect image.

BEFORE AFTER |
I used Photoshop to change the contrast, colour and saturation to achieve the perfect effect for my cover image. InDesign I then took this image to InDesign and began to work on top of it to create the cover. Here I was able to experiment of different font sizes and colour to compliment the image. This was also where I added cover stories and explore different styles of presentation to attract the target audience. |
.
Cover Masthead
I have chosen the title ‘CLASS’ as it was a simple yet appropriate name to call my school magazine; after various experiments of which font to use I came to a conclusion to use the font ‘GOOD TIMES’ as it was simple yet cold and eye catching; hopefully it was clear it was the title !
I also added a slogan ‘ACHIEVE MORE’ to make it even more clear it is a school magazine.
I thought I would make one of the main stories an article and advice column as I felt this would have attracted the audience, I made the word ‘STRESS’ bolder than the rest so it is the first thing the audience takes notice of.
This is similar to the ELLE magazine when they advertise the ‘SPRING MUST-HAVES’.
Final Cover Design
CONTENT PAGE
Research and planning
For this, I approached it similarly to the way I researched for the front cover. However this time I did not have particular magazine which I focused on for inspiration for my contents page. Instead, I looked at various styles and put it together to create the perfect one for my own.
